The Packers will be lead by Aaron Rodgers who has not only completed 305 passes. He has also racked up 39 touchdowns. He has lead Green Bay to being 3rd in the NFL for passing yards with a total of 304.6 yards per game. He can complete all these passes without receivers to back him up. Green Bay has some of the best receivers in the league Jordy Nelson has 51 catches this year and brought it in for 10 touchdowns. Green Bay's strength is in the air.
If the Packers had a weakness it would be on the ground. They only have 91 rushing yards per game with is 27th over all in the NFL. They do have a good running back in James Starks. He has racked up 565 years this season. He only averages 4.4 yards a carry. It may not be much, but 4.4 yards is enough to get another set of down.
The Packers do have a defensive problem of stopping the other team from gaining yards in the air. The Packer defense is is 31st in the NFL allowing 288.7 yards a game. It has not mattered that much to Green Bay since their offence is so good. However it is something they will need to fix on their path to perfection.
The Chiefs have been having a less than stellar year. They have been having issues moving the ball on the air and on the ground. Quarterback Matt Cassel has completed 160 passes for 1713 yards. However these yard are not turning into scores. Even though Cassel has scored 10 touchdowns this season he has had almost as many interceptions at 9. Dwayne Bowe is the Chief's number one wide receiver have made 65 catches for 937 yards. He has yet to carry the ball in for a touchdown, however he has fumbled the ball one time.
On the ground the Chiefs are the 15th in the league with 116.4 rushing yards per game. Jackie Battle is the Chiefs main running back with a total of 504 yards. He has also carried the ball for 1 touchdown and no fumbles.
The Chiefs defense has had success with stopping the ball in the air. Their defense against passing yards is 10th in the NFL. They are much worse at stopping the ball on the ground, defensively they are 26th overall allowing 132.5 rushing yards a game.
This game will pit one teams offensive weakness against the other teams offensive strength. Aaron Rodgers will get the ball more times than a running back gets the ball. Weather will not be a factor for either team. In fact, weather may help. It is predicted to be 51 degrees and sunny, this is throwing weather. The Chiefs will get to test just how strong their defense is against stopping the pass.
Also, Arrowhead Stadium can be one of the hardest places to play in the NFL. For the Chiefs this will be their Superbowl. The fans will show up and they get loud. When Arrowhead stadium is full of fans, it is almost impossible to hear the snap count. This will be something that Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have to overcome. The Packers will also have to worry about complacency. They have already secured their play-off spot and have almost locked up the number one seed. The Packers have to keep focus, and the Chiefs have to want it.
