The 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has been a very good one so far. With 2 races left til the Chase for the Sprint Cup, there are still some spots to fight for. Clint Bowyer, driver of the #33 car and Jamie McMurray, driver of the #1 car and winner of the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400 are the two drivers currently fighting for the last spot to get into the Chase. Mark Martin was in the running, but had a bad race at Bristol and is now 101 points away from the 12th spot, which is the cut off to make the Chase.

Some history has been made this year. Jamie McMurray became the 3rd driver to win the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 in the same season. Those wins and a win at the Indy 500 made owner Chip Ganassi the first owner to win all three races in the same season. Another piece of history happened recently with Kyle Busch winning in the Truck, Nationwide and Sprint series in one weekend at Bristol. Those 3 wins in the same weekend made him the first driver to win 3 races at the same track in different series in the same weekend.

Kevin Harvick has been the best improvement this season. Last year at this time, he was 24th in the points standings. Well this year, he was the first driver to clinch his spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Harvick did not win at all last year, and so far he has won 3 races.

The Sprint Cup Series is always unpredictable and the season is not over yet. It is anybodys championship to win.
